Part of the widely discussed problem in electrical power systems is optimal reactive dispatch (ORPD) due to its reliability and economical operation systems. The ORPD a complex nonlinear optimization problem. pathfinder algorithm (PFA) newly developed that inspires group movement prey with leader called when hunting for food. inertia weight added PFA an improved (IPFA) support proper random work swarm avoid decrease searchability PFA. IPFA was proposed this diminish active loss while improving voltage profile. validated on IEEE 30 118 bus along particle (PSO) teaching–learning-based optimizer (TLBO). provides best result as losses test were reduced 16.035 115.048 MW from initial base 17.89 132.86 MW, respectively. PSO TLBO 16.1568 16.1607 system, respectively, provided 117.9129 118.0524 MW. two systems’ reduction percentages (%) 10.37% 13.41%, results compared those other algorithms literature, superior result, thereby suggesting superiority methods diminishing system’s
